Lone worker and man down alarms form an essential part of your commitment to safe and efficient working practices. Lone worker functions on our radios can be configured so that they operate automatically as a failsafe, removing the need for staff to put them in operation. This is hugely beneficial for new staff or contractors coming on to site.

Beaconing technology of ComBus can be deployed to track radios and smart devices. Having real-time information on the location of staff on a petrochemical site is paramount to keeping them safe. This reliable technology allows radio devices to be tracked inside structures and buildings for additional peace of mind. If there is a radio in range of the beacon it sees the device and reports via ComBus back to the application with the device identity and position. This works seamlessly alongside GPS radio features for tracking workers who are beyond the range of the internal beacons.

By using a combination of the two technologies, beaconing and GPS, the application identifies the exact location of any individual radio or smart device. From there it’s a small step to add functionality that gives lone worker protection. These functions require workers to check in as a response to an automatically generated enquiry. Each device has a unique reference that is assigned to an individual worker.
