iBeacons are small transmitters that detect nearby mobile devices. When detected the iBeacon sends relevant information to the ComBus control room allowing the location of the two-way radio or smartphone to be found with accuracy. For example, in a museum, iBeacons can display the position of all employees on a ComBus map. iBeacons can also identify locations of incidents.
ComBus has developed its own iBeacon to enhance Entropia's mission critical services. The iBeacons have a minimum guaranteed battery life of 20 years and do not require external power supply, or network cabling.
If the network uses the 3GPP standard (for example GSM networks 4G and later 5G) and the ComBus Push-to-Talk functionality, the indoor iBeacons will provide an accurate position within a building, underground car parks, tunnels, etc.
